UP-CIFAL Philippines, Foreign Affairs Dep’t partner for 2nd offering of Professional Course on Global Migration

9 DECEMBER 2019, PASAY CITY, PHILIPPINES–UP-CIFAL Philippines partnered with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs (OUMWA) for the second offering of the professional course on global migration.

The second batch of learners are 28 mid-level career officials of DFA and government agencies involved in migration such as the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

The course aims to serve as a continuing education for migration practitioners interested in a comparative and pragmatic approach to the challenges in migration management. It is composed of seven modules which offer a range of topics that aim to broaden and deepen one’s understanding of global migration.

As a final requirement for the course, learners must submit a capstone project that will provide recommendations to improve the services  or propose solutions to some challenges in the migration work of their respective agencies.

Serving as resource persons are 27 experts  from United Nations (UN) agencies, government agencies, civil society organizations, the academe, and former government officials who worked on migration, gender equality, diplomacy and sustainable development.

First offered in August 2019, the professional course on global migration will run from December 9-12. The presentation of capstone projects and graduation ceremonies will be held on December 19.
