VISION & MISSION

Our Vision

The CIFAL Global Network aims to serve as a training system of excellence for capacity building of government authorities and civil society leaders on sustainable development, as well as on global mandates and goals of the United Nations.

Our Mission

Strengthen the capacities of government authorities and civil society leaders, thus empowering them to advance sustainable development at the local level.

The Centre International de Formation des Autorités et Leaders (CIFAL) Global Network is an international network of training centers coordinated by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). It is composed of 30 institutions located across Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, and the Americas. The network is a hub for the exchange of knowledge amongst government officials, the private sector and civil society. It offers training opportunities to build the capacities of local decision-makers on sustainable development and on the global mandates and goals of the United Nations.

Every center is managed locally by a host institution with UNITAR providing academic content, technical support and quality assurance measures for its capacity-building activities. The majority of UNITAR’s Decentralized Cooperation Programme (DCP) training services are delivered through the CIFAL Global Network.

The eradication of poverty and hunger, environmental sustainability, risk reduction of natural disasters and provision of skills required to compete in a global economy are only a few of the challenges that our governments and societies face. The CIFAL Global Network recognizes that there is a crucial need for capacity development in order to address these challenges.
