UP-CIFAL Philippines holds SDG capacity-building seminar-workshop for 102 university students

16 August 2019, Mandaluyong City, Philippines—UP-CIFAL Philippines held a capacity-building seminar-workshop on sustainable development goals (SDG) for 102 students of Rizal Technological University. 

Ma. Christine Sanchez, program officer for SDGs of UP-CIFAL Philippines, localized the 17 global goals and their impact to the daily lives of students.

Kristine Jane Montalla, program officer for inclusive business of UP-CIFAL Philippines, facilitated the workshop where the students identified challenges and solutions related to an assigned SDG. The students, mostly political science majors, enumerated problems related mainly to SDGs 1: No Poverty, 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and 13: Climate Action, such as overpopulation, contractualisation, and improper garbage disposal. The participants proposed solutions including family planning, full employment, and proper waste segregation.
