WEBINAR-WASH for the Goals: Ensuring Clean Water and Sanitation for All

Date: 22 July 2020 (Wednesday)

Time: 3:00 PM (Manila time)

Registration: https://bit.ly/WASH2020

Description: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, or more collectively known as WASH, are three fundamental issues that are grouped together due to their interdependent nature. One common example is the absence of toilets contaminates water sources, and basic hygiene habits are impossible without access to clean water.

The provision of safe water, sanitation and hygienic conditions is essential to protecting human health during all infectious disease outbreaks, including the COVID-19 outbreak . As proper handwashing has been recommended to effectively fight the virus, it is therefore necessary to ensure that WASH practices and principles are consistently observed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In line with the promotion of Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation and Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, UP-CIFAL Philippines aims to highlight the importance of the cooperation and participation of communities and institutions in the success of WASH programmes and initiatives in the time of COVID-19. The webinar offers a venue by which stakeholders such as academics, government agencies, private institutions, and citizen groups could explore ways to strengthen the capacity to address the issues on WASH amidst COVID-19, and how some ways could be explored to move forward in the “new normal.”
