Description: Physical distancing or more commonly known as “social distancing” is one of the important strategies to fight COVID-19 as the coronavirus spreads through droplets through close contact with other people. The World Health Organization says it is more appropriate to use the term “physical distancing” because keeping a safe distance from other people in public places does not necessarily mean disconnecting socially.
Physical distancing has become the new norm. However, enforcing physical distancing in a country whose capital is one of the densest cities in the world is easier said than done. For the poorest of the poor who live in cramped spaces, standing at arm’s length from others is a privilege.
UP-CIFAL Philippines, iACADEMY, and Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. invite you to a webinar that aims to explore the local governance, human rights, and technological aspects of physical distancing to combat this pandemic. This online discussion also seeks to emphasize the roles and contributions of various sectors such as the government, academe, and private groups as well as provide recommendations for the effective implementation of physical distancing.
