13 August 2020–The University of the Philippines (UP)-CIFAL Philippines hosted the webinar, “The Future of Tourism in the Time of COVID-19.”
Resource persons from the national government, academe, non-government organization, and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation talked about the challenges posed by COVID-19 to the tourism sector, and possible recovery measures and sustainable strategies to help address the issues on the industry brought by the pandemic.
Joining the pool of experts were Roberto P. Alabado III, assistant secretary of the Department of Tourism; Prof. Richard Philip Gonzalo of the University of the Philippines–Asian Institute of Tourism (UP AIT); Josephine Costales, president of the Philippine Farm Tourism Development Association; Randy Durband, chief executive officer of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council; and Sandra Carvao, chief of Tourism Market Intelligence and Competitiveness of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation.
