24 & 29 April 2019, Quezon City, PhilippinesꟷAs it prepares to offer the Professional Certificate Course on Global Migration in the third quarter of the year, UP-CIFAL Philippines held two consultation meetings with a total of 27 experts.
UP-CIFAL Philippines is embarking to offer a Professional Certificate Course on Global Migration that aims to capacitate primarily those in the front line of migration–related work in the bureaucracy and in advocacy work. The certificate course is a collaborative initiative by UP-CIFAL Philippines and United Nations (UN)-related and affiliated organizations such as the International Organization for Migration, International Labour Organisation, and UN Women.
The meetings generated comments on the scope of topics, learning methodologies, and module development from experts from UN agencies, government agencies, civil society organizations, the academe, and former government officials who are working on migration, gender equality, and sustainable development.
The certificate has seven modules which intend to broaden and deepen one’s understanding of international migration, its opportunities and challenges, and implications to development, policy, and migration governance. Moreover, the certificate course aims to equip migration practitioners with the skills to integrate their acquired knowledge to practical solutions on migration challenges.
