The orientation aimed to equip higher education institutions (HEIs) with the knowledge and tools to embed sustainability across institutional policies, programs, and operations, ultimately empowering students and stakeholders to take part in creating a more equitable and sustainable world. Key presentations highlighted practical ways to institutionalize the SDGs to campus operations and wider community, and internationalization and global networks on the SDGs for higher education institutions.

Dr. Michelle R. Palumbarit, Director of UP-CIFAL Philippines, opened the session by underscoring the importance of collaboration in advancing the SDGs. “We are all in this together,” she noted, emphasizing the shared responsibility of educators in shaping a sustainable future.

Throughout the event, KLD administrators and faculty expressed a firm commitment to sustainability. Dr. Regielene S. Gonzales, Vice President for Academic Affairs, reaffirmed the institution’s goal of producing graduates who are “productive members of society and contributors to progress.” In her closing remarks, Dr. Gonzales urged the community to move from awareness to action: “SDGs are not just global aspirations but concrete pathways through which higher education institutions like KLD can contribute to building a more sustainable and equitable world.”
