CIFAL Philippines

ABOUT US

UP CIFAL Philippines was established in March 2016 through a cooperation agreement between the University of the Philippines and UNITAR. The center was formally launched during the 3rd  Global Mayoral Forum in Quezon City on 29 September 2016. The center serves as a hub for training, advocacy, and research on the interwoven themes of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, migration, and gender equality. We enjoy unparalleled access to a vast network of experts, academics, and development professionals—a network we are harnessing to ensure that knowledge radiates towards those who most need it.

UP CIFAL Philippines offers an array of integrative, innovative, forward-looking, developmentally relevant capacity-building courses anchored upon the academic expertise of the University of the Philippines, the hands-on knowledge of practitioners on the ground, and the global experience of our partners from abroad. Our courses utilize a wide variety of learning methodologies designed to suit the needs of national and local authorities, policymakers, technical officers, development workers, and other stakeholders.

Our vision: An Asia-Pacific that is well-positioned to take on the challenges of an ever-evolving world whose values and life-ways reflect the bedrock principles of the sustainable development goals and whose citizenry is armed with the knowledge that allows them to move steadily towards the fulfillment of these goals, particularly in managing migration-related issues and in pursuing a more gender-equal society.
