30 April 2025–The University of the Philippines – Centre International de Formation des Autorités et Leaders (UP-CIFAL) Philippines held the “Sustainable Development Goals for Transformational Business” (SDGs4BIZ) orientation on 28 and 30 April 2025 with Coolaire Consolidated, Inc. Held via Zoom, the two-day virtual training workshop featured a series of lectures and interactive discussions aimed at deepening the private sector’s commitment to sustainable development.
This online learning activity brought together employees of Coolaire Consolidated Inc., and sustainability advocates to examine how corporations can integrate the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their core operations and long-term strategies. With a focus on transformative business practices, SDGs4BIZ highlighted the vital role of the private sector in building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economies.
Coolaire Consolidated, Inc. President Mr. Joel Tugade emphasized the significance of the SDGs4BIZ initiative in deepening the company’s awareness on the importance of the global goals and their linkages to the company’s operations, specifically in advancing SDGs 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 8 (Decent Work and Employment), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 17 (Partnership for the Goals).
Key sessions covered the history, principles, and pillars of the SDGs; transformative business approaches to integrated sustainability; climate-related risks; ESG integration; impact measurement; and the creation of enabling environments for health, education, and decent work in business operations. Expert speakers represented respected organizations such as the John Clements Leadership Institute, International Labour Organization, Philippine Business for Social Progress, Zeroboard Research Institute, and the UN Global Compact Network Philippines. The two-day event concluded with a workshop that identified priority SDGs and explored impact opportunities and corresponding short-, medium-, and long-term actions.
The SDGs4Biz program is a capacity-building initiative that aims to raise awareness and promote how the private sector can integrate the 17 SDGs into transformational business strategies, thereby contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive economy. It enables participants to apply the SDGs to their industry practices, ethics, operations, and measurable outcomes.
