
6 March 2026 — UP-CIFAL Philippines convened its 9th Annual Board of Representatives Meeting at the University Hotel in University of the Philippines Diliman last 6 March 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Percival Almoro, Assistant Vice President for Research and Innovation of the University of the Philippines, representing UP President Angelo Jimenez. In his message, Almoro emphasized the Centre’s role in the University when it comes to strengthening research, partnerships, and capacity-building initiatives that support the implementation of the United Nations’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Michelle Palumbarit, Director of UP-CIFAL Philippines, presented the Centre’s 2025 accomplishments, highlighting its expanding programs, collaborations, and initiatives aimed at empowering youth, institutions, and communities to engage with the Sustainable Development Goals. She also further discussed the Centre’s plans for the coming year, including the upcoming transition in the development of its professional courses.
Board members also discussed strategies to enhance impact measurement, expand capacity-building efforts, and strengthen partnerships across sectors. The meeting reinforced the role of UP-CIFAL Philippines as a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange in advancing the SDGs in UP and in the Philippines.
